Claas Thien
Attorney-at-law and specialized attorney for estate law
Our colleague, Mr. Thien, studied law in Hamburg and completed the first of two state law examinations in 2004. He began his articled clerkship at the Regional and District Courts in Münster in 2004 and successfully completed this stage as well as the second state law exam in January of 2007.
Immediately following his last examination he made the decision to follow a career in law. Initially, he worked for a so-called “Anwaltsnotar” i.e., an attorney/notary firm. He has been at ATN as a fortifying addition to our team since 2008.
Even before he finished his studies, attorney Thien had already decided on a specific field of law, which is the reason he studied estate law during his articled clerkship. The bar association of Düsseldorf awarded attorney Thein with the title of “Specialized Attorney for Estate Law” in 2011 due to his proven, exceptional knowledge and his practical experience in this field of law.
Furthermore, he attended a specialized course of studies to become a “Certified Executor”, pursuant to the guidelines of the German Union for Inheritance, Probate, Estate and Succession Law (Deutschen Vereinigung für Erbrecht und Vermögensnachfolge e. V. (DVEV)).
In the fall of 2013, he successfully completed a course of studies to become an “Expert Advisor for Corporate Succession” according to the guidelines of the Center for Corporate Succession at the University of Mannheim (Universität Mannheim e. V. – a registered association – aka: zentUma). Lecture series on inheritance and bequeaths, corporate succession concepts as well as patient provisions, living wills, advance directives and health care proxies round off his professional passions. Besides estate and corporate succession, our colleague, Mr. Thien, is also active in the fields of insolvency and general civil law.
